Blasting Abrasives: Crushed Glass Media

Crushed glass is a general-purpose abrasive regularly used in place of both sand (known to cause silicosis) and dusty, poorly sized coal slag. Crushed glass media is made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass that is crushed, cleaned, sized and packaged to provide an ideal blast media.

Crushed Glass Media

The angular shape of crushed glass cuts through surfaces but it is lightweight enough for cleaning without damaging the underlying material. Crushed glass is non-metallic and chemically inert, preventing it from contaminating stainless steel or aluminum.

Crushed glass media can also be used near and around water. The crystalline silica levels of crushed glass are less than 1%.
